Health and Wellness Committee
The Health and Wellness Committee is a group of parents who meet a few times throughout the year to discuss and enhance health and wellness initiatives at Saints Peter and Paul School. Some achievements of the Health and Wellness Committee include:
Walking Wednesday– This weekly event encourages students, K – 8, to be physically active during recess. Students who choose to participate in Walking Wednesday are permitted to wear gym uniforms on Wednesday even if it is not their scheduled gym day. After lunch these students will be given the opportunity to either run or walk a predetermined number of laps based on their current grade. Students receive charms for completion of their laps.
Summer Safety Day – typically held during the last week of school in June, the students cycle through different stations to learn many aspects of summer safety and prepare for summer vacation. Stations include: water safety, sun protection, first aid, mindfulness and exercise.
Monthly Themes – Saints Peter and Paul School dedicates each month to a Health and Wellness theme. For example, February is Healthy Heart Month. Students enjoy “A Healthy Heart Minute” (dancing!) each morning during the Wake Up Call, our student produced morning TV show. December is Healthy Snack Month and Saints Peter and Paul School held a contest for student recipes that were showcased during the Christmas celebrations.
