This Sunday, we celebrate the Feast of Pentecost. On this day, we celebrate the completion of the Paschal Mystery. Jesus’ Suffering, Death, Resurrection, Ascension, and finally, the fulfillment of the promise of the coming of the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Blessed Trinity. We know the Father as Creator, the Son, as the Redeemer, and the Holy Spirit, as the Sanctifier. God’s Holy Spirit dwells within us as protector and guide and bestows the gift of holiness on each and all of us.
We rejoice and celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit. It is a moment of grace for all of us to recognize the Holy Spirit within us and among us. We are given this day, the opportunity to open ourselves to the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, to sanctify those around us by our words and actions, thereby renewing the face of the Earth.
