This week we celebrate that special holiday that is represented by a heart, Valentine's Day. It is a special day for us to recall all the special people we love and those who love us.
Although our society commercializes this holiday, we don't have to. We can rise above out secular society and make this holiday a moment of grace. We can thank God for the people who have and who do love us, and we can thank God for giving us people to love. How blessed and privileged we are to love and be loved.
To make this holiday truly a moment of grace, I ask you to focus your attention first on the "Heart"--focus on the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Recall His love for you, personally. That love that won for you the gift of salvation. Entrust yourself once again to that love by strengthening your relationship with Jesus under the title of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Once you recall Jesus' great love for you and appreciate it with gratitude, then offer that love and gratitude in a genuine way to all those you have and do love and all those who have and do love you. Valentine's Day can be more than a commercialized, secular holiday. It can be a moment of grace and genuine love. We need to turn our hearts to the source of all genuine love, the Sacred Heart of Jesus. In Him, we can experience and appreciate genuine love and then return that same kind of love to those around us.
