Dear Parishioners,
As people of faith, we are called to be missionaries. We are called to proclaim the ‘Good News” of Jesus to all the world, especially to our less fortunate brothers and sisters.
Each year we are given the opportunity through the Archdiocesan Office for the Propagation of the Faith, to hear about missionary work being accomplished somewhere around the world. We are asked to pray for and contribute to this particular mission endeavor and all those involved.
This year we are asked to support the Archdiocese of Lahore, Pakistan. The collection will be taken up next weekend, August 21, 22. Below is a little information about the Archdiocese of Lahore.
God bless us all!
Fr. Citino
The Archdiocese of Lahore is the largest Diocese in Pakistan. The work and contribution of Lahore Archdiocese has always been very prominent and effective towards the social and religious harmony.
Most of our schools are in remote areas (villages). Christians in these areas are very poor. They work on the farms of Muslim landlords. They are not able to pay the fee to educate their children. The diocese has hostels/boarding houses and schools for them.
We have an Archdiocesan Catechetical Centre which is used to transmit Catholic Catechism to faithful through training sessions, seminars and other activities, including training programs for Catechism teachers, lectors, altar servers, nurses and much more. Our Family Life Commission helps couples to establish and maintain Catholic environments in their families, helping couples to become faithful husbands and wives, counseling sessions for childless couples and much more.
Thank you for your assistance in making the 2021 Missionary Co-Op Appeal a success. May the Lord bless you for your prayers and financial support.
With prayer,
Yours in Christ,
+Sebastian Francis Shaw OFM
